Avoid these dangerous food combinations

When you eat several types of foods in one time you need to know the basics of food combinations. Foods digest at different rates. Making sure you’re eating the right foods combination requires the knowledge of protein, starch, carbs, sugar and other nutrients the foods have which you are consuming. Most of us simply don’t know these things or not bothered about. However, doing so helps your body to get the right amount of nutrients for energy. Wrong food will leave you feeling bad.

For example, fruit digests quickly, vegetables are next, then starches, whereas protein digests slowly. When you get the combining right, your body gets the right nutrients in the food with more energy.

Here are the food combining basics:

• Starches + Veggies = OK
• Proteins + Veggies = OK
• Proteins + Starches = Bad
• Plant Proteins + Plant Proteins = OK
• Animal Proteins + Animal Proteins = Bad
• Starches + Starches = OK
• Fats + Proteins (animal or plant) = Bad
• Fats + Carbohydrates = OK
• Fats + Starches = OK
• Fruit + Raw greens = OK
• Fruits are best eaten on an empty stomach

These are some not advisable combinations of foods due to complex nature of processing of the two different foods in one time.


Egg and Bacon:

High protein in the egg and the fat in the bacon is a bad combination.



Beer and Salty Dryfruits:

High-salt dry fruits such as cashew, peanuts, almonds lead to dehydration and increase the likelihood of having another pint of beer. It is good to drink beer with water or soda.



Sandwich and Coffee:

Carbs in bread are bad to mix with coffee, better replace coffee with white or green tea.



Cereal and Fruit Juice:

The acids in juice lower the activity of the enzyme in the body that break down carbohydrates of cereal.




Cough Syrup and Lemon:

Acids in the lemon can block the enzymes in the body that are required to break down medications. This may lead to various side effects.



Cucumber and Tomato:

This is a very popular combination for salad. However, research shows that these 2 vegetables combined can disturb the biochemical pathways of the body and the vitamins contained in both vegetables won’t be digested properly giving  no health benefit actually.



Fruits and Dairy Products:

Fruits can cause intoxication when combined with dairy products.



Fruit after a full meal:

This is a bad idea to consume fruits when you’re on a full stomach. Eating fruit after a meal doesn’t combine well with other foods since it digests very quickly but has to wait for other foods to get absorbed producing no health benefits.



Meat and Potato:

Starch in potatoes and proteins in the meat demand different acidic fluids to consume. When together, they just get stuck inside your stomach and can bring disorders like belching, gas etc.



Milk and Banana:

This combination is very popular among people. However, as discussed earlier fruits should not mix with dairy products because fruits slow down the digestion system. As for milk, it is also more healthy to drink it separately. Use bananas as snacks between major meals.


Milk and Citrus Juices:

Do you know what happens to milk if a drop of lemon juice falls in it? It curdles the milk. Something similar happens in your stomach too if you consume milk with citrus juice.



Muffins and Juice:

This is the combination of protein and fiber which will kick your blood sugar but it will crash soon after.


Olive Oil and Nuts:

This combination can make you sick because the protein in nuts and the fat in olive oil do not mix.



Tomatoes in Pasta:

Pasta is rich in starch and difficult to digest, the tomatoes which are highly acidic cause hindrance in the digestion of starch and cause bloating.

Pasta and Minced Meat:

Pasta is rich in starch carbs, when it is combined with proteins (meat), they create a dangerous chemical mixture that can lead to diabetes and CVDs. It is better to eat pasta as a separate dish.



Pizza and Cold Drink:

Perhaps the world famous combination! Most of us can’t eat pizza without a fizzy drink. The carbs in the pizza along with proteins and starch take up a lot of your body’s energy for digestion. In addition to this, the sugar in the soda slows down digestion and other stomach processes which is real Bad!


Yogurt/Curd contains a lot of bacteria that will act on the sugar present in the added fresh fruits. This combination may give you cold, allergies and other toxins related diseases. Unflavoured yogurt added with honey, raisin, or sugar is ok.



Meal along with Water:

Most of us have the habit of drinking water while having meals. But sipping on water while having food is not good. Water will dilute the acids in your stomach which will make it difficult for your body to break down carbohydrates, protein, and fats. It is advised to drink water at least 10 minutes before you have your lunch, this will actually reduce how much food you have.


Burger and Fries:

One of the hottest combinations ever! But if you will notice after having this meal you dont feel refreshing. Both are deep fried items, the trans fats in both these food will lower your blood sugar levels and cause you to feel tired and sleepy.
