Cautionary Note!

Toothpaste irritates the skin, there are plenty of toothpaste hacks which talks about applying the toothpaste on skin for certain conditions like removal of pimple, removal of blackheads, treat dark spots, applying it on the burn & bites, using it as a hair gel etc.

One should know that toothpaste is not a dermatologist-approved treatment. Toothpaste contains certain ingredients — baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, alcohol, menthol, essential oils, triclosan etc. When these compounds come into contact with skin, it may cause trouble. In case of burn, never apply toothpaste on the affected part of the body, instead of providing any relief, it only aggravates the problem. As toothpastes contain chemicals like calcium and peppermint, it increases the risk of contracting infections and also affects the tissue of the skin. Similarly, don’t use toothpaste for above mentioned conditions.
